White Label SEO for Agencies: When It Makes Sense
Reselling SEO under your own brand is not a shortcut. It is a trade between control and capacity, and it only works under specific conditions.

Agencies resell SEO for two reasons: they want to offer a service they cannot deliver in-house, or they want to scale without hiring. Both are legitimate. Neither is automatic.
White label SEO works when the agency treats it as a partnership and fails when it is treated as a commodity purchase. The difference is in the conditions, not the provider.
When it makes sense
- You already have clients asking for SEO and are losing them to agencies that offer it.
- Your core business is something else — design, development, paid media — and SEO is a supporting service rather than the main product.
- You can sell and manage the relationship, and the partner can deliver and report.
- You have enough clients that the volume justifies a retainer rather than ad hoc work.
When it does not
- You are starting from zero clients and hoping the partner will find them for you. They will not; that is not the deal.
- You cannot explain the work to the client. If you do not understand what is being done, you cannot defend it when the client asks.
- The client expects the partner's team to attend meetings under your brand. Most white-label arrangements do not include that.
- You are choosing on price alone. The cheapest option is the one most likely to damage the client relationship you are responsible for.
What to check before signing
- Ask who does the work. In-house staff and named contractors are different from a rotating pool of freelancers.
- Ask how reporting works and whether it is white-labelled. The report is what the client sees; it is your reputation.
- Ask what happens when a campaign underperforms. A good partner has a process for that. A bad one blames the algorithm.
- Ask for references from agencies of a similar size to yours, not from enterprise clients.
- Ask about turnaround times for content, technical fixes and link building, and whether they are contractual.
The risks worth naming
- Quality control is shared. You are accountable for work you did not do, so you need a review step before anything reaches the client.
- The partner's methods become your methods. If they buy links or use spun content, it is your brand on the invoice.
- Switching costs are real. After a year with one partner, your client relationships, reporting and processes are tied to them.
- Margin compression. If you resell at a markup and the partner raises prices, your margin shrinks and you cannot easily pass it on.
How to start
Start with one client and one service, not the whole catalogue. Run it for a full quarter. Check the reporting, the communication and the results before you expand. A white-label relationship that works is built on evidence, and evidence takes a quarter to collect.
Common questions
- What is white label SEO?
- White label SEO is SEO work delivered by one company and sold under another company's brand. The end client sees the agency's name on the reporting and communication, while the delivery partner remains invisible.
- Is white label SEO worth it?
- It is worth it when an agency has clients asking for SEO, cannot deliver it in-house, and can manage the client relationship. It is not worth it as a way to start an agency with no clients, because the partner does not generate clients for you.
- How much does white label SEO cost?
- Pricing varies by scope and provider. Wildrank Technologies publishes white-label SEO pricing in tiers starting from $499 per month. The right comparison is not the price alone but the margin you can sustainably charge on top of it.
